Three Easy Ways to Attract New Clients!
As my coach once told me: There is no one right
way to attract new clients and build business. If
there were, everyone would be doing it!
Wow, permission to grow my business as best suits
me!
Taken a step further, my business thrives when I do
what I love and what I do best!
Why this emphasis on conducting
business in the manner which best suits our
personality and preferences? Because our
uneasiness comes through when we are outside our
comfort zone, and potential clients can
read that discomfort in our tone, body language and
speech.
For instance, when I reentered the world of dating in
2002 I had fun as I met several interesting men,
made some new friends and became clearer on what
I wanted in a potential mate. I remember one blind
date in particular however when I was SO nervous. I
do not know why, but I just could not relax that
evening. Guess what, no second date. I was finding
it difficult to be myself and that nervousness came
through for both of us.
A few weeks later I enjoyed another first date, this
time feeling sure of myself, relaxed and looking
forward to the meeting. We hit it off right away. So
much so that we will be tying the knot
in November. Being myself was and is key to my
relationships with others, personal and business.
As you consider these ways to attract new clients,
honor yourself by keying in on methods that are an
easy match to your talent, temperament and soul.
Potential clients will pickup on your positive energy
and perceive you as the winner you are!
- Write an e-zine or blog. Readers will
subscribe to an e-zine that provides them with useful
information. In addition to your status as an expert,
you retain contact information for potential clients; a
key to building business!
- Book reviews. Offer a bookstore your
services to review a book that speaks to your
particular area of expertise. This can be as simple as
a 15-minute talk followed by an interactive
discussion. The bookstore is able to
display and promote multiple books on related topics,
and you place yourself directly in front of potential
clients who are interested in your topic. Talk
about a win-win situation!
- Join a local organization that will bring you
in contact with like-minded individuals. Be it the
chamber of commerce, the YMCA, a philosophical or
church group or a healing center discussion group.
By doing so you again place yourself in direct
contact with potential clients who share an
interest in your service.
These are just three examples (writing, speaking and
networking) that put you in direct contact
with potential clients. As a bonus, here are 10
more! Decide which resonate with your individual
style and give them a whirl.
- Offer free or reduced price samples of your
service or product
- Form a partnership with a similar service
provider
- Join a professional organization targeted at your
specialty
- Develop a website
- Auction sessions or services on ebay
- Write book reviews on Amazon.com on an area
related to your specialty
- Ask for referrals from each of your friends,
associates, and family members
- Volunteer to lead a discussion group related to
your area of expertise
- Place coupons for your service at related, though
not competing businesses
- A combination of the above
