Dear Reader,
If you only focus on one aspect of your
practice, what should that be? Read
Holistic Business Basics to learn the
most important thing you should know
about your practice!

The most important thing you should know
about your practice!
|
|
As I mulled over what is truly BASIC
to a successful holistic practice,
one point became increasingly clear. So
clear, that I realized it should stand alone as
the focus of this article.
Do what you love to do with the clients
you love the most.
At first glance this notion is so
simplistic as to seem mundane. I
urge you to go further and examine how
you really feel about your
business/practice, as it exists
today.
I pause here to make an assumption that if
you are reading this article you are, or
wish to be, a holistic practitioner; in
business for yourself. If so, your business is
much more than a way to earn a living. It is
your dream.
Take a moment, right now, and ask
yourself:
- Do I love the type of clients I work
with?
- Do I offer only the products and/or
services that bring me joy and fulfillment at
the deepest level?
Why is doing what we
love so important? I believe it's
because
it makes every aspect of our business and
our lives so much easier! When we
love what we do we're willing to put in the
extra hours and go the extra mile, and we
enjoy doing so.
I've shared before about my love of
gardening. When I'm in my garden the hours
pass like minutes. My husband will
occasionally come outside and find
me "working" away, tending my flowers,
smeared with a little dirt and swatting the
ever-present gnats. To him it looks like
work, but to me it's pure pleasure.
The same is true when I'm coaching or
training. I am "lit from within." I'm in
the flow, and gratitude and
progress come with ease.
If you are a fellow entrepreneur, a
modern-day dare-devil out on your own, then
claim
your right to "do what you love".
Here's what Michael Gerber, author of
The E-Myth Revisited, and the
World's #1 Small Business Guru, has to
say about doing what you love for a
living:
"I don't believe your business to be the
first
order of business on our agenda.
You are. Nor will you be
surprised to hear that I don't believe your
business is your life, though it does and
can play a significantly important role in your
life."
"But before you can determine what that role
will be, you must ask yourself these
questions: What do I value most? What
kind of life do I want? What do I want my life
to look like, to feel like? Who do I wish to
be?"
"Your Primary Aim
is the answer to all these
questions."
What Michael Gerber calls your Primary Aim,
I consider the basis of a sound
business. The foundation of your
dream, your practice, is, or used to be,
your sheer joy.
Do you remember the day you completed
training in the practice you currently offer?
Or perhaps yours is a gift that came quite
organically. Do you remember the
delight, the enthusiasm,
and the commitment you felt when
you determined to share that gift via your
own business? Recall the moment you
declared your intention to become
the holistic practitioner you knew you were
destined to be.
It is that passion and that joy that dwells in
every successful business owner I know.
And here I define success as financial,
spiritual, and heart based.
My bottom line is this: While I coach and
teach on business
development, marketing, time
management, and ideal client attraction, my
first step with each client is to facilitate their
connection with their dream, their
love, and their gift.
Because if we don't have a deep abiding
passion within us, honestly, we may as well
work for someone else, folks. Being in
business for yourself starts with a
dream, and that dream should never be far
away from the compass that guides each
decision, each task, and each day.
Graceful and joyous are the hands guided by
such love. If you've temporarily lost your
dream, return to it. It is there awaiting
you.
Join me again next month when I will share
"Three Essential Web
Pages."
Till next month,
Blessings & Light,
